1. Essence & Etymology
Pyrite derives from the Greek pyr (“fire”)—aptly describing its spark when struck with metal. In the Vedic lens, this glittering golden stone embodies Surya Tejas, the divine radiance of the Sun.
According to Vishwakarma Prakashika (Adhyāya 9), “Tejovān ratnaṃ sauryātmakam”—that which mirrors the glow of the Sun and resists decay should be employed for strength and prosperity. Pyrite fits this definition precisely.
